Force Pools?

Ive never been quite sure how to find out what the force pool limit for a goven country actually happens to be.

force pool in conscripts or a particular unit? There is none for the first, each unit has its force pool, which is indicated with an icon on the recruit panel.

What I meant is that theres supposed to be some mechanic to keep troop numbers balanced between the different countries within the alliance. So that you don't build a British army that bigger than the French one. Supposedly units become more expensive when you exceed this force pool limit to prevent this?

No. Not sure how the force pools for EAW were picked, but I expect there aren't many more units of a type available than that nation actually raised during the war. So you could in theory spend all your available manpower and resources to raise just British units in 1914 an no french ones...

That is correct, all combat units types recruied have a max unit cap. There are bonuses for the first few of a particular type that are raised, and penalties as your near the hard limit.
