(1) River/Rail Capacity? (2) MSTG tactical decision?

Wed Nov 26, 2014 1:07 am

(1) River/Rail Capacity. Seting up the Grand Campaign. For River it says 0/0. Then it says I need a minimum of 41. Yet I have two gigantic Ocean Liners sitting around, and maybe some other naval type stuff that looks like they could transport things. How do I get up to 41, how is 41 calculated, and what good would it do to have 41? For Rail it say my max is 1500 and I have 1293 left over for supply. I am assuming that means I have 207 units on the map? As far as Supply, what counts as a unit of Rail Supply? If Supply is also is 1 to 1 does this mean that if I have 750 units on board and they each consume one supply, I am okay?

(2) MSTG tactical consideration. I believe I read that MSTG units do NOT pay attention to terrain in calculating battle results. If that is the case and you have 3 adjacent units surround an enemy hex, two of the units would be crossing a river to attack the enemy hex – would it be beneficial to have just one unit that does not cross the river attack the hex and hope they other two join in via MSTG therby avoiding the river attack penalty?

Hello and welcome to the forums Shafty. :wavey:

In regards to your questions:
1. TEAW doesn't have river capacity (it's there, but you can't use it). So ignore that value for now. As to the rail pool, every unit has a weight value. You are transporting 207 weight in units (it could be an army, or several corps, or a lot of supply wagons). You have more rail pool to move supplies, or move more units.
2. Yes, if you can. Although I am not 100% sure that they units that MTSG won't get some sort of river crossing penalty anyway, but they may or may not. I don't remember at this point.

The river capacity option can be used to move leaders. It can be very useful at times.
