It is possible, but cumbersome. Obviously this was not intended, this is a workaround I thought of.
1) Minimize the game, go to save games folder, and copy save game outside save game folder. I personally just zip the save game
2) Go back to load game screen and rename the current game
3) Minimize the game, and copy or unzip back previous game to saved folder.
Personally, I nver do that, I have complete trust in the auto save. The game auto saves up to 12 previous turns. If I ever want another turn under a different name. I go to save games folder and look for Backup folders. Every turn is stored in the backup folder with a number noting how many turns ago it was saved. Whenever a game is inside folder named Backup, the load screen will not see it. I just copy Backup# folder to save game folder, rename the folder and I'll see a new game in the load screen after that.

Contents of Backup1 folder. If I want continue with another save game from this point, I copy backup1 folder to folder shown in Picture 1. Then rename the folder name from Backup to whatever I want. In game, you will now see you can load two different save games.
