When the battle planner pops up, where do I see who is the attacker, who is the defender?

This is a problem indeed. And it could be important cause some strategies may be used with advantage if you are defending. I think we need an independent explanatory thread about all battle plans and what they do. I really don't know myself exactly either and I refuse to see in the data files.
