Crash on Save, new version

Mon Sep 30, 2013 4:51 pm

Hi,

My most recent campaign stopped working this morning when I hit "SAVE". It went back to the start screen. From that point, I can't RESUME or LOAD the game any more.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions for resuming this campaign - I have a lot of time invested in it!

Best,
Tom

if you can check the size of the files in your saved game directory (the location is indicated in the Options window, Main menu), I believe one of them is at 0 byte. You'll probably have to roll back one turn in this case, either within the game, if you can access the load game, or manually by moving files around if not.

The .hst file is indeed zero bytes. How would I manipulate files to get this working again (sorry, newbie here)?

I think you need to go to the .hst file and delete it. Then put the .hst file that is in the "Backup1" folder where the original .hst file was.
"Umbrellas will not be opened in the presence of the enemy." Duke of Wellington before the Battle of Waterloo, 1815.

"Top hats will not be worn in the Eighth Army" Field-Marshal Viscount Montgomery of Alamein K.G.

he will be better to delete all the files (not the folders), i.e the HST and ORD files, if there is some. Then you have to take the content of the backup1 folder and put it where you deleted the files.

This manipulation is only necessary because the game can"t access a 0 byte file, but normally when you want to roll back one turn, you can do that within the game.

Be sure to have turn compression off when continuing your game, and sorry for this trouble.
