Cannot load saved game

Hello!

My game crashed on me while playing the grand campaign.

When I attempted to load my last save point, I received an error message.

The last 2.5 lines are the error message I receive when trying to load or resume the save. I have been playing this game for 2 days, and this is the first time it has happened.

Other than that, the game crashes on me about once every 2 hours of gameplay, for various reasons, such as being out of memory.

Edit: I am not using compressed save files.

Sorry for your trouble.

Can you post your saved game as a ZIP attachment here (or you send it thru wetransfer.com, free website). Sometime the 'can't access file' is caused by a file which has only 0 byte in weight. It can be because at a given time the game could not write it as it was still locked by the system.

I won't be able to check your save before tomorrow probably though, sorry.

I'm not really windows or tech savvy, and have no idea how to compress/zip files. It was hard enough for me to find this game log in the first place :-)

Would it be possible to email you the saved game file if I am unable to send it to you in the manner requested? I'm thinking the file will be too large for that, so I will need detailed instructions on how to compress and make these files available to you.

hello,

Zipping files in Windows is really simple: multi-select the files then do a right-click on one of them, you should get a contextual menu. There you have one named 'Send To'. Send the files to the zip compressor, and an archive will be generated in the same folder, something like xxx.zip

You can compress the entire folder of the game you are currently playing, zip will compress everything in it. Then you can send me the files at pocus@ageod.net (no more than 20 megabytes) or through wetransfer.fom

Your plan worked, Pocus.

BUT, about 4 more months down the line, I am experiencing the same problem again.

I get an "out of memory error" towards the end of the turn (but the turn completes regardless). Then when I try to initialize my next turn, the same "out of memory" error appears on screen, and the game automatically goes to the main menu screen. When I try to load the game, I have the exact same problem as before.

Seems like there is a problem with the video card and the game. Can you go to the options panel, main menu, then in the system tab alter max texture size and memory usage so that the checkbox is to the left position. Also, disable winter textures.

Then, if you see the game is stable, crank these settings one notch.

When you get an out of memory error, you have to restart the game to clear the problem. A few computers have troubles with the map.
