out of memory crashes
i can usually play the game until late 61 before i get some strange out of memory errors. sometimes it takes me back to main screen sometimes the whole game goes down

Are you using replay option or file compression, in the in game menu?
Also, this might come from a corrupted saved game. If you can check your current saved game, the HST and ORD files should not have 0 byte in weight. If they do, then you must roll back one turn.
