Load Game screen messed up - Can't Load Save Games! (1.01b)

Wed Oct 02, 2013 3:14 am

Some crash happened when I hit 'End Turn' a few turns into the Western Theater Scenario.

When I reloaded and tried to load the game back up, the Load Game screen was all garbled and the 'Continue Game' button didn't do anything.

So I started the a new Western Theater game yesterday, and planned to load it up tonight. I can't once again! My Load Game screen is stuck like this:

I can't select anything. There's nothing showing, anyway, from what I can tell.

I suppose my last option is to reinstall the whole game, although I'm a bit wary of this happening again as it didn't seem to take much for this screen to go nuts before. Suppose I'll have to give it another shot.

Update.

The second game has shown up. If I scroll the top window down a bit then everything shows properly.

It didn't do that with the first save game but this one showed up after I dragged the scroll bar down. Whew.

Is this screen maybe going nuts because I'm using it on my laptops smaller screen resolution (1366x768) and it's vertical area isn't very large?

that's more have to do with what is happening in your saved game folder. Can you please first install the public beta patch? It will turn compression off.

Now, you can check in the option panel (main menu) where is located your saved directory. Go there and delete all saved games except the one you are currently playing. Then open the folder of this game and tell us if one file has 0 byte. If yes, you'll have to manually roll back one turn.

I have only been using the 1.01 beta. I purchased the game after you posted the beta update Friday. ;) Turn compression has always been off.

I deleted the other Save files and left my latest one. The Load screen now works properly. :happyrun:

There were no save files sizes of 0. They were all over 3MB. There were six total save files in there, so perhaps it was a display issue with so many? I did check out all the Tutorials, and those had been saved in there. One file was labelled "!Tutorial3" so perhaps the exclamation point was doing bad things? Or it couldn't match up with the appropriate pic to display in the panel?

It's working now, after deleting the extra files so all is well. If I find it acting up again, I'll try to repro at that point.
