[MOD] Ledger UI Mod

Sun Sep 22, 2013 4:54 am

If the titanium ledger background a bit too Steampunk for your tastes, this mod might be of interest. It changes all the ledger windows, plus the bottom tabs, to something a bit more appropriate to the era.

There are now two versions - a "clean" parchment and a more "rustic" paper.

"Clean" Version:

"Rustic" Version:

Installation:

1. FIRST, back up your Graphics/Frontend folder. (Note: There are two Frontend folders in the game files, so be sure to back up the right one. You want the one inside the Graphics folder.)

2. Unzip the attached files into the Civil War II main directory. It will overwrite the necessary files.

It won't work for me on:

  • War Ministry
  • Strategic Map
  • Regions List
  • Scenario Background

No design change there!?

The mod changes all those screens, You probably have a bad install.

I just downloaded from the link and installed the mod on a clean install, so I know it works.

Check your installation. Unzip the file to your desktop and then go through each folder and compare to the files in your game installation. The file posted at the link has everything you need.

I checked it manually.
The backgrounds have all been correctly copied to the correct folder.

Nevertheless Civil War II won't use:
•War Ministry
•Strategic Map
•Regions List
•Scenario Background

For testing purposes I deleted the whole folder 'FrontEnd'.
Civil War II don't care - it shows me the vanilla ledger background then!?

How crazy is that?

Maybe a game cache issue. Try advancing a turn and see what happens. I saw a post somewhere from someone saying they had to advance a turn before some of the new screens loaded.

We both saw this tip on the Matrix Games Forum.
It don't work for me - I am reinstall Civil War II now.
Let's see what happens.

if you don't get an overwrite question, then you are not adding the files in the right place, resulting in 2 files with same name in 2 folders, so the game will pick one at random.

There is no need to do a new turn, if the only valid file is the changed file, the game can't use another one.

Actually it couldn't have been advancing the turn, it didn't work I quit the game I restarted and it did work
When I think about it I also moved my backup copy of the graphics frontend folder out of the graphics folder, but that doesnt seem to address your issue either. Maybe a reboot will help I always had to do that when modding AACW.
Best of luck.

Same. The "Clean" set is perfect.

Does this also change the background of the General/Unit Stat window?

I'd prefer to see all the bright shiny silver panes replaced, but I'll take what I can get.

Very attractive! Good job. Probably should be made standard!

Thank you Fred! I agree the "clean" set is my first choice.

I also agree that the "shiny silver panes" would be easier on the eyes if they were also replaced.

I hope Fred can add this to his mod but no big deal if he can't. Thankful to have the ledger easier to read. Thanks again sir. :hat:

Sorry for raising this thread from the dead...

Hi folks,

I have been using fred zepplin's great work for a while now. I have expanded on his clean UI version to include other areas of the game. It includes the main message box, events, and the unit detail panels plus a few others.

Unzip the following file into your base Civil War II folder. Don't forget to backup your files and all that jazz first.

LMAO! You beat me to it. I did exactly what you did. FWIW here is my version. DISCLAIMER: This mod includes the "clean" mod files already completed by fred zepplin and available in this thread. The additional mod work I did was all based on modifications of his existing mod files. If you want to back up the stock CW2 originals, I suggest you backup the entire directory CW2/Graphics/Frontend.

CW2 Clean UI MOD - no grey backgrounds.zip

I was perhaps going to look at doing some of the other interface items like button graphics.

PS: Yes these mods work with latest patch
