P.S. Am I missing something, or you don't have Lee in command of an army?
Yes, unfortunately, Lee is not an Army chief. I really don't know why not, except that while I had him active in VA, the option never appeared (maybe I had too many Armies there already?) So, I move him to the Western theater to take Cinc, which he did!!!!!
IN the East, I've got Manassas and Alexandria, with a rather long vertical extension northward, knocking on the door of Harrisburg, PA; but, Athena way out numbers me and that advantage will soon go to the North. So, I've blitzed into IN and OH in order to force (hopefully) Athena to direct precious resources to protect the western PA territory, along with upper IN/IL. I'll send Cav to disrupt RR and small forces to harass; but my goal is to breach Athena's line from Harrisburg, PA, down to Washington, D.C. I've got a beachhead in eastern MD seaboard region, but Athena has put Sherman there, and he's more than my small force can handle, without significant reinforcements.
Tell more about this gold in the west. This is something that I've heard and read about, but don't yet comprehend the value of it, since I'm only capable of small troops to effect any campaign there. That's one of my biggest issues--line of supply along with first-rate regiments, the CSA just doesn't have enough. (Rather historical, so I deal with it.)
I really should finish the West campaign of the game. I've played it partially twice but lost interest due--other than learning how to use armies and corps.
You guys are a great help and encouragement.
