State reinforcements

Fri Aug 21, 2015 10:56 pm

I was just wondering how the reinforcements work. Each state has allot amount of say brigades to recruit correct? does this number go up as time goes on? and if you as a csa player own KY, than you get those brigades but if you lose ky, than must go off rest of states. Does that change what you have for other states?.

thanks.

For the most part, the units which start in the reinforcement force pool are what you get. Some of the pools, like the Connecticut super brigades, have a few additions later in the game, but really not enough to plan for. Of course, other historical brigades come as 'free' reinforcements. Some reinforcements are geographically based. For instance, taking New Orleans adds a few units to the Union.
Kentucky is a really nice bonus of reinforcements for the South if the South can take at least one city which is reinforcement build capable. The Kentucky reinforcements may only come into Kentucky and do not appear in other state pools if Kentucky is lost. My assumption is that this represents recruits who would have joined the Southern cause had the South been more dominate in that state.

So Ky and MO are essential to the south for manpower reasons than.

That is my take. Others disagree. But these states provide 'bonus' units. If you are inclined to be an aggressive Southern player, the Kentucky and Missouri forces may be enough to bring Kentucky into the Confederacy and to keep Missouri in the new nation.
If you can raise these reinforcements, you have gone a long way toward balancing the overwhelming Union numbers. Of course, you also must hold New Orleans for the War Supply.

To recruit state reinforcements, you need to control one of the strategic regions in that state. If you click on the map overlay for strategic cities, these are highlighted.
