New Player Question 1: The First Tutorial

I've tried to play the first tutorial a couple of times to refresh my memory on how army movement works in the AG
EOD system (the new cavalry scouting feature is a lovely bonus!) but I've run into the issuse that when I follow the instructions and attack Bragg with Grant and Sherman the resulting battle ends in a slatemate and not the victory the system claims. Thus Grans is engaged and can't move to Malone as the tutorial instructs him to.

Am I just getting "bad dice" or am I doing something wrong?

Check this, when you reorganized your forces per the tutorial instructions, do the command penalties disappear for Grant and Sherman?
