Militia Training

Can you train militia elements to infantry or will they always remain militia?

With a training officer yes he will train 2 regiments of conscripts or militia into regulars every turn if hes in charge of the stack hes located in

Also all units gain experience automatically through training. Eventually when they get experienced enough they will upgrade.

So a militia unit could remain stationary and a little less than a year later they well be experienced enough to upgrade into line infantry

The training officers are: McClellan (all hes good for), Halleck, Franz Sigel for union.

Confederacy: Braxton Bragg, Samuel Morris (hes the guy locked in richmond at start of april campaign)

I don't know if CSA has another one.


Training officer is different from training master.

The former will train 2 conscripts or militia elements (!) Into like infantry every turn provided they are in command of their stack.

Training Master provides experience for everyone in the stack every turn regardless of whether they are in command or not.

The latter will indirectly train units up to line infantry by giving them experience.
