Size of Armies

Wed Sep 18, 2013 11:15 am

Firstly after a brief play around with it last night the game looks great and a perfect successor to the Blue and the Gray. :)

Just need work to finish now...5hrs 50mins to go! :( so that I can get properly stuck into it.

I do have one question on finding out the numerical strength of stacks and armies? Before you could press the shift or ctrl key (forget which one) and this would show a display of how many soldiers, cavalry and cannon were present in a stack but this does not do this now. Is there anyway to find this information? Sorry if this question has an obvious answer but I could not find it last night.

Thank you

Bobby

Hover with your mouse over a power number on unit/brigade/division card within a stack. It should show manpower for all units in the stack as well as for the entire stack.

I will have to give that a try later, I just much prefer it when you have numerical data for army sizes rather than just combat power points etc. Thank you Ace :)

As I said before in another thread, many things are done different now, not better, not worse, just different :)
Ctrl key option could maybe be back if many players demand it, at least I think so :)

The control key is still listed in the keyboard shortcuts as showing troop numbers, but it does not appear to do anything presently. I discovered the mouse hovering method completely by accident while being frustrated with the lack of CTRL doing anything :neener:

Thanks, Pocus, for using with army stack. I found in the manual that the shift with non-Army stack shows "nearby regions and nature of movement links to them."

I am not in front of game at moment but I was not sure what the varied colors meant when using the shift key I think for both Army and non-Army stacks. Can you explain what the colors mean for Army and non-Army stacks as I assume these colors are varied levels of command range or movement? Or point to page in manual? Thanks. I am really enjoying getting into this masterpiece.

If you hold shift while non army stack is selected, it will draw lines from your stack to all neighboring regions. Blue line means you are crossing a river. Brown/black line means you are not, regular land movement. If you hold shift while army stack is selected, army command radius will show over regions this army commander gives its subordinate corps bonuses or penalties.

hey bobby, if u want to see the actual troop numbers (how many men in each unit, not the pwr rating) mouse over the power number in the unit tiles themselves(on the bottom of the screen), then it shows under each unit!
