Hosting pbem select both nations?

Tue Jul 28, 2015 1:21 am

1] Hi, First time hosting. On the youtube video it said play as nation [csa] than send the hst file. They play than send the ord file is this correct?

2] When I first host must I chose to play as both nations first? but only play one side [csa] than send the ord file for north?.

3] When I sent the hst file, in my saved games folder [after renaming it] it had only a hst file and my turn the csa ord file. Is this correct and than i send the hst file, or should I have a ord file for both csa and usa? but send only hst? or only ord or both?

thanks.

Yes, they receive the hst file. Doesn't matter which side you play though.

2. You do not have to choose to play as both nations. The host does not need to send their own ord file. They just need to send the hst file and have the opponent save their ord file before processing turn and then the hosting player along with his own orders, processes the turn.. then resends the hst file, and starts again.

3. You would have your ord file if you made any move, and you do not need to send this to the opponent. He only needs your hst file, but you will need his .ord file in order to process the turn for the both of you.

P.S. if very confused private message me and we'll setup and game and I will show you. It can be a little odd at first to understand why you have so many processes to the PBEM feature but it works after a little bit.

(host sends .hst and the non-host sends the .ord file, the host is the turn processor but each turn the opponent will need the refreshed .hst file and replay if he wants them)

I'm not sure exactly what you're saying. BUT you should put the orders file in the same location as your (host's) orders.

yes 1stvermont, the .ord file of your opponent should bring up his orders and if you have saved your orders you should see both when you get ready to load up the screen and enter the game. Then you can process the turn which will create a whole new Host file for him.

So I have found when he sends the ord turn file, I place in folder, restart game but it contains no orders from him. I entered game as his side and the ord file he sends contains no movements or commands. He says he is doing turn and saving at end what could it be?
