Returning player with some question's

Sun Mar 01, 2015 11:59 am

Hi
Haven't played this game since late 2013. Version 1.02 was my last attempt. There were some things that put me off back then and I figure with several patches since then I would try it again. I have some questions if someone would be so kind to answer. Ace?

1. Are the options/settings for PBEm now set in place once the game starts (previously they could be different on each players PC)?
2. I recall getting a Leader promoted was a bit tricky, could you remind me of the process?
3. Is the game more balanced now? Previously manpower levels seemed overstated for the South.
4. What, if any would be described as major changes since 1.02?
5. I read somewhere there is a replay feature (hooray!), is it in 1.04 OR coming with 1.05?
6. Anything that might be of help since 1.02 I should know?
7. Has any attempt been made to tighten PBEm security?

Thanks for any help.

Sorry, your luck has run out ;) .

I believe the hosting server is always controlling the settings, which are generally stored in the 'General.opt' file in '..\CW2\Settings'. So what ever is set there on the hosting server at turn execution is taken into account.

With the current public beta 1.05 RC9--and a couple before that I believe--if a leader is eligible for promotion, that status will remain until the end of the current year. So the player has considerably more time to organize and promoting leaders.

I don't know that anything has actually changed for quite a while--or at all for that matter--but recently there have been some complaints that the South doesn't receive enough conscripts. So I guess it's a question of who you ask.

Retreat has been fixed so that retreating away from friendly forces and/or depots/cities is far less likely. Ping-pong-ing has between enemy regions is also not seen anymore. ZOC I believe has also be reintroduced to the retreat rules so that in some circumstances if the retreating force has no controlled region in which to retreat, it may have to pay the consequences for that by not being able to retreat after battle at all.

It is in a very raw stage. There is no GUI to control the playing of a replay file and it has to be started from the console; pressing the space-bar starts and stops playing. It also has some graphical bugs, like showing certain texts offset to one side or the owning stack. Better than nothing for the moment I guess.

Depots can now be destroyed which are under a size of level 5 or 6.

Not that I am aware of.

Ok thanks for all that. I am trolling thru the old posts since I last played. That helps. Pity nothing has been done on the PBEm front re at least setting in stone the options the game starts under.
