Casualties and trenches

Sat Feb 15, 2014 1:01 pm

At the start of the war, when the Union tries to attack Manassas, I see huge casualties.
However, the nr of casualties later in the game (mid 1863) seems to go down.
Weird as in my case, the general has a 5 for defence, the attacking general was weaker, trench was level 7, my army was bigger and had more artillery. Difference in casualties was 1000.
It feels like the nr of casualties should be way higher if attacking such positions.
In real life, the number of casualties would be a lot higher. Thats why armies try to out manouever each other. I think that part isn't modelled correctly. A frontal assault when dealing with big armies in a level 7 trench would be suicide. Athena now attacks but should really start to attack the seaboard to hit the CSA in the back and force the army to get out of its trenches or at least divert some troops.
