My biggest Frustration - Finding "Movable" units on the Map

Sun Nov 17, 2013 2:13 pm

I understand how to use the map filters, yet no matter what I do, there seem always to be:

1. A few units which have the large diagonal stripe which are identified even though the locked +/or fixed unit filters are applied (cntrl-F1 or the locked filter on the Strategic Atlas Map).

2. A few otherwise hidden movable units in regions with several stacks (usually newly constructed units) which would otherwise go undetected when the filters are applied such that I have to manually inspect every stack anyway, which is a huge waste of time.

Tips? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Are you using the icon in the bottom right hand corner that has soldiers boots on it. Clicking on that will take you from one unmoved or active unit to the next. Also what is your activation bonus for your troops and commanders?

There is an area located within the game options menu that sets the activation of units.

I have always used the key shortcuts E and R to move from movable stack from movable stack (land) and T and Y for naval stacks.
Thats basically how i make my turns on any AGEOD game. Use with E and T until everybody that can move has some orders. SPACE bar gives the stack a 1 turn sentry order in case you don't want to move the stack for the moment.
I rarely go around the map searching for stacks.
The button Gen Dixon comments is new addition on CW2 interface

This sets the combat and movement penalty is not activated; I am looking for a way to easily see on the map units which are movable.

Mark
I hit F7 (strategic map), then click off fixed units (the padlock thing). Then just hover my tooltip over curious stacks and you will find 'missing' stacks or troops trying to dodge action :)

So it turns out that the units which are moveable but fall through the filter screen are very low in cohesion and probably need another move to fully train.

Clicking the boot icon is the best way to go. If on the F7 map, click off fixed units would filter out units under construction as well, it would be a mayor improvement, but you can click on those units as well.

Is there a way to see all units on the map at once?

I am frustrated by units under construction showing up as movable in the filters when they are not because they are "almost ready". I don't use the keys, I use filters to go from strongest to weakest Naval only, then Land only with an eye to which units can move but are not moving. So many times have I clicked on a unit that was "movable" but found that dangnable brown bar!

Oh well I'm taking the quirks in stride, one thing AGEOD does do is listen and improve, it will get to where we want it soon enough.
