Is there a list anywhere of what the various new ships do eg flatbed, mortar?

Thanks

No list of which I am aware, but check the element stats and abilities. Flatboats make for cheap transports and you may use mortar boats to improve your siege roll.

But if I remember correctly from AACW1 (or was it PON?), if you put in your sieging force two siege artillery units, their effects on siege roll don't stack.

Is it the same in CW2? And what about mortar boats?

Yes, it is still the case, so if you have siege artillery, mortar boat would not anything more to siege rolls.

I am not sure on that one Ace.

Mortar barges are in a different region, would they get a second check?

Pocus said somewhere that it is the same ability - siege bonus. The ability only checks if you are in adjacent river region as well as in the region itself.

Yes same, it's just that mortar boat can project their ability to an adjacent siege.

Is the strength of the mortar boat's guns also added to the siege role?

no, that's a limitation of the code.
