How do state capitols effect the game?

I have noticed that the state capitols are listed on the map with the state flag next to the appropriate city. Aside from esthetics how (if at all) do state capitols effect the game?

They produce conscripts. Maybe money, I will have to check that.

Does control of one effect loyalty for the entire state?

IIRC, if you ctrl-click the city to see the structures inside it, then there is a mouse over tool tip for the capitol.

They all seem to produce 1 Money and 1 Conscript per turn. So, that's useful. That's aside from most of them being objective cities anyway
