On map strength not same as stack panel...

Mon Oct 21, 2013 6:32 pm

I have attached a screen shot which shows the 19th Division in the stack box as below 50% strength (you can also see in the element box on the RH side that most of the elements are in the red). This makes sense as they have just fought a major battle. However, on the main map the strength bar on the unit counter is at full strength!! This isn't the first time I have noticed this.

That is because it takes 4 command points for a division to function at full strength. Price alone with a division is only 2. You need another leader with him or a signal unit.

Are we talking about the same thing? I'm talking about casualties from a battle. You can see the elements that have almost been completely destroyed over on the right. The stack box shows the strength accurately at below 50% (the dark RED line). On the map it is shown as full strength.

Ol'Choctaw is talking about command points, and you are talking about graphics.

Yes, it seems weird that the main map shows a full red line (but it does correctly show that the cohesion is about half). So it is half correct.

I have also noticed on several occasions that the "power" rating number in the stack box is different from the on map chit.

Does red bar indicate
- number of elements/maximum number of elements or
- the current strength of elements / maximum strength of elements.

I think that was the original question.

Sorry, I was shooting my mouth off before I understood the question.

The red shows casualties. The number of men needed to bring the unit up to full strength.

A unit can have no cohesion and be down a few troops and still show as white.

The white unit will recover strength and cohesion in a turn or two. The red ones will take much longer and draw replacements from the replacement pool.

Sorry to correct you, but he is telling that the red bar(out of three bars next to stack sprite in the main map) on Price stack outside St Louis is showing full strength. If red bar is casualties, it should be lower. There are two explanations to this:
1. It is a bug
2. It is not a bug, but the red bar does not show casualites. It shows current number of elements/maximum number of elements in fully filled brigades regardless of current regiment strengths.

That's right Ace. I think the red bar is meant to indicate casualties and that I have found a bug. If your number 2 (above) is correct then the program is still bugged because the stack box and on map levels should be the same. Surprised nobody from AGEOD is commenting on this...

What do you mean by "stack box" and "on map levels"?

The stack box (or is it called unit panel?) is at the bottom of the screen. 'On map' means the counter on the main map, which clearly shows a much higher level on the red bar.

Ok, you mean unit panel purple bar and map counter red bar.

By the way, are you still playing with 1.0 un-patched version. In patched version the unit panel hits bar and map counter hits bar should both be red.

I was looking at the dental of 19th division.

The middle light blue bar is showing strength and cohesion. The bars don’t seem to work worth a darn when looking at the units.

I have never seen the red bar move on any units, unless they were awaiting full elements as replacements or captured equipment which is down on strength.

Your own units with all assigned elements will always so a full red bar.

And we are back to what I 've been saying:

Red on map bar shows "current number of elements"/"maximum number of elements in fully filled brigades" regardless of current regiment strengths.

It would be better if it would show "current number of CHITS in elements"/"maximum number of CHITS in fully filled brigades". That way, it would show casualties, and relative hit points of the stack.

I agree Ace. To show the casualties on the unit card would be much more useful. After all, the light blue bar shows reductions in cohesion, so it follows logically that the dark red bar would show reductions in strength ie casualties (hits). Surprised nobody from AGEOD has responded. I know they're very busy... hopefully working on Nap Campaigns 2!! :0 (PS yes I'm fully patched up).
