Merchant Ships and Supply BUG or WAD?

Sat Oct 13, 2012 7:43 pm

I am playing the Pompey vs. Sertorius vs. Pontus scenario. I have reached the ripe old age of turn 23 (Apr -73). I am noticing that my merchant shipping in some of the MTB is running out of supplies. This is a problem with all ships. It may be a problem due to the fact that I had to include warships with the merchants (dang Pirates were destroying my shipping!). I am not sure if this is a WAD or BUG. I can provide saves if necessary.

the fixed merchant ships never demand additional supply during test phase.
yes, please provide more information.
i cant imagine it WAD if that is created when one actually protects the merchants. have you had them combined with the fleets stack or did they remain in a single stack and the fleet was just moved into the MTB ?

as this is one point on modding list, to make merchant ships build.able for some nations, i am rather curious about this impact...

This is a problem with all ships

you know that supply is NOT forwarded, not even in the trade boxes?

i opened a game, trading ships dont use supply yet, but they can suffer supply penalties when they are hit during battles. SupHitPen and SupCbtPen

If this is a problem, one can try top set them in green order, the fleet in orange or red, forcing the trading ship not to participate in battle.

My merchants were getting killed. I had to protect them somehow. So I moved a warship squadron to the MTB. I did not realize that the Merchants would not move supply, and that they did not use supply. My guardian squadron ran out of supplies after a few turns (I did not have transports with them). I noticed that the merchants had supplies. Thus I combined the stacks (warships and merchants). This gave me a few more turns of supply for the warships. Then it said I was getting hits again.

I am going to say that at this point, this is a WAD, and that I should have not joined the warships with the merchants. I should have sent transports with the warships, and kept them as separate stacks. This is something for the manual then.

i think the merchant ships can get an edit, that they dont share supplies, but i dont have the files content in my mind. I also can imagine that there is plenty of room to change the situation with merchant ships, but much work to be done for them before, elsewhere in game...

thanks for the answer
