Stalemate battle result

In version 1.0 the result of every battle I've resolved so far has been a draw. Is this a bug, or working as intended?
I've even had a 'enemy was routed' message following a stalemated battle

*ed: it does appear that VP's and exp are being awarded for battles, so, it looks like the battle screen is just under fog of war ;)

**ed: continuing to play through, I have seen a victory out of what looked like a stalemate-I think it's a bug..like it's backwards or something.

wasnt so last Saturday,

what kind of battle order do you use, something like blue-blue?
try it with ordering red-red if you play a ROMAN faction, this causes much higher losses on both sides and should be more decisive and give you much more POWs/slaves to sell

if your enemies are Barbarians or even worse, Slaves, dont wonder, not much honor (VP/EP/NM) gain in here :bonk:
you would need to slaughter them to compensate the loss of roman line infantry

why exactly what happens, only the magnificent Pocus might be able explain

I've been using standard (orange/orange)attacks mostly-I've been playing the spartacus scenario so far-Playing alot more, I do see Victories and Defeats more now, I'm wondering if size of forces has something to do with it? as in small forces (under 10K) don't really produce victories? Play the Spartacus scenario with the release version, you should see some odd draws in the first couple of turns, odd because you do get vp's and all-and massive inbalance in causlties

But, I think you're right. Once the Roman legions show up, things get alot more decisive.

you will see in later scenarios, that a 1000 Romans lost does mean i.e. 1 national moral lost. for balancing the barbarians and also the slaves need to be killed in much higher numbers to have a effect on victory points and national moral on this level.
this is also giving credit to the fact, that key cities taken by Romans will have influence on key diplomatic actions/events, not military losses only.

as in this case, only a very rough explanation, since the gain from battling simple slaves is very low, [color="#FFD700"]yes having much higher numbers leads to higher losses (longer battles either) and thereby a higher chance to get Roman victories.

you can also use Gladiators against small Roman troops and would have similar effects, Gladiator victories, as long the gain by killed Romans is higher than the valuable loss of good troops of the Gladiators. at least as long the Romans are busy with fighting simply slaves and the Gladiators get the momentum and punch hard

i other scenarios, like fighting Pontian troops, it will become more clear, that there is a large difference of loosing Roman or loosing barbarian fighters, which is at least a part of the calculation the engine drives into stalemate and even Roman losses

There may still be something up with the result calculations. On this turn Crassus completely destroyed the Spartak troops in three battles (losing all three)

Loosing 4000 men even if Slaves lose 30 000 is calculated as a Slave Victory because Slaves internal value, in VP and NM, is much lower than romans one. As Yellow Ribbon stated above.

That is my analysis.

I agree it may need some fix to avoid such weird Victory.

I do not think it will happen in others scenarios (Romans vs Romans or Romans vs Phartians/Pontics).

We need a save with this kind weird battle result Title to investigate this. On side must have been routed and have had hig casualties.
