ep loss reported but came off national morale

Playing PBEM as Sulla with Marius as a human opponent.
Lost Rome around turn 6 which is par for the course.
Turn report mentioned a loss of 25 EP's which whilst heavy is not the end of the world but the loss of 25 actually came off my national morale.
Doesn't seem correct!

Loss of NM or lack of information about it ?

Thanks for request for clarification.
What doesn't seem correct is the turn report said one thing but the effect was another. I lost no EP but NM points instead.
