Help me structure the various titles so I can use an update patch

Tue Jan 06, 2015 2:32 am

I have all the AJE titles. As I purchased and installed them in the order released all in the same folder which is currently defaulting to Hannibal Terror of Rome. All scenarios of all releases can be run from this menu. When I try to apply the 1.04 patches, I cannot make it apply. I have also tried the install from the opening Matix game menu. Nothing seems to work.
Should I re-install all the versions in a particular order so AJE is the dominant folder name?
I did apply the patch to an older install of AJE alone and this worked.

Hi, Durk.

Let's see if I can be of help:

A. The only official, supported way is to have different installations for each game, each completely independent of each other:
1. AJE+PAR, with the 2 DLCs, with latest patch (BTW, 1,04 has already been released on Seam, still waiting for a Matrix/Ageod release)
2. BOR, patched to latest patch
3. HAN, patched to latest patch

(PS: BOR 1.04 and HAN 1.01 are also awaiting Matrix release...)

With the latest patches you will be able to play any scenario of the installations via any one of the games menus.

B. Unofficially, and "at your own risk", it is possible to have a single installation, if you want to save hard-disk space. The safest way is to:
- first, make the 3 separate installations, each one patched, as described above.
- then, if you want to have HAN as your single installation, you can copy/paste all the .scn files from AJE and BOR Scens subfolders to the HAN Scens subfolder. HAN installation, WITH PATCH 1.01, has all the other stuff needed to run the AJE and BOR scenarios. You can do the same operation also with AJE as your base game (just fetch the HAN and BOR scene files and paste them accordingly)

Attention: Although relatively rare now, future AJE and BOR patches may make changes to the respective scenario files. These changes are not included in HAN patches, and vice-versa, so you will have to keep that in mind.

Hope this helps. If needed, PM me

Thank you so much. I do have a lot of memory, not personally where I have none, but on my computer, so I will use the official solution.
Man it is taking me so much time to sort this out, but totally worth it.

So here is a really trivial question, but I cannot figure this out. I have structured into the three different installations. Now my AJE PAR opens with the PAR opening. How do I get the original AJE opening to be the default box? I do absolutely love having all scenarios in the AJE menu. Now I want to make the AJE menu the default, not the PAR menu.

Hi, Durk

sorry for a late answer, RL got in the way... :)

I am not certain exactly what you mean. AFAIK the PAR extension only really installs the PAR scn files and changes the "exit" screen (for one with the Osprey publicity). What do you mean by "PAR menu" ? Can you post a screenshot ?

Thank you for taking time for this. Prior to installing the Parthian Wars, AJE just says plain AJE. I would like to return to that screen without the Parthian Wars overlay, but only if simple to do.

Ha, you mean the Matrix menu.
That I cannot change. But you do not need it ;)

You can launch AJE directly, just make a desktop link to AJE.exe file (located in the game folder) and use it to launch the game.

Cheers
