Trajan scenario - Jewish revolt?

Wed Oct 30, 2013 3:59 pm

Is the Jewish revolt not a part of this scenario? As there is a "Judea" faction in the scenario and some regions have a high Hebrew loayalty I was expecting some kind of revolt during the course of the game, but there seems to be none?

Wikipedia says that during the timespan of the scnario there were revolts both on Cyprus and in Egypt.

Also, the scenario ended in 117, November instead of 118, April:

Am I missing something here? If some kind of early end condition was met, I didn't notice it.

The Minor Defeat/Victory texts also both refer to the Parthian invasion failing because of Jewish revolts - that never occured!

So:

1. I cannot reproduce the strange premature ending. Running your backup1, in my PC, either as Romans or Parthians, the game continues to turn 45, with still 5 turns remaining: (see also attached save)

Image

I cannot explain why, save for some quirkiness in PBEM, that I do not play...

2. Regarding Jewish revolts, their happening is dependent on several conditions:

- First, if Roman player owns Edessa, beginning in March 115 there is a 30% probability per turn that the event "Jewish agitation in Edessa" happens. It did, in your game
- Then similar events happen if the Roman player captures Nisibis and Babylon. In your game Rome has not captured Babylon.
- Only then, if all the 3 preceding events have ocurred (meaning, only if the roman player has captured Edessa, Nisibis AND Babylon), will the events of Jewish revolts (in Palestine, Egypt, Cyrenaica, Cyprus) possibly occur, with a probability each turn of 30-50%.

So, all is functioning...BUT

...reading the scenario creator designer texts, I see the Jewish revolts should be allowed to occur if ONE of the 3 cities (Edessa, Nisibis OR Babylon) is captured by Romans.

So, this chain of events will be fixed - for next version

I see, thanks for the explanation.

I just assumed that this revolt was independent of my actions so I assumed it was a bug but I stand corrected then.

The premature ending bug I also find very strange, I tried loading the backup of the previous turn and processing the turn again but the result was the same.
(Frankly I am happy because my Parthian army as you may have seen would have been out of supplies the turn after:bonk :)

Please note that I edited my post: the chain of conditions for Jewish revolta were too restrictive. In next patch Romans will have much more troubles ;)

Also note that if the romans capture all 3 cities (Edessa, Nisibis, Babylon), an option will appear to the Parthian player to incite a jewish revolt in these 3 cities :)
