Every time I go inside Mesopotamia.......the supplies FINISH

Every time I go inside Mesopotamia the supplies finish and my army became very weak, with few men. I know that is historical accurate but how can I avoid this ?

1 Avoid the desert.
2 Take lots of supply wagons with you and shuttle them back and forth.
3 Go slowly, ensure your men are rested and supplied before pushing on to the next town. Sometimes you will have to go back to a well supplied town to enable your units to get back up to strength before pushing on.
