Number of backup turns saved

Fri Mar 29, 2013 12:24 pm

Is it possible to increase the number of backup turns that are saved during a game?

I can of course just copy the backups to my own archive, but if it is a setting somewhere in a config file, than that would be much easier.

Yes, it is possible. However, each game takes up memory.

I believe you go to your folder AJE\Settings\ and look for the file "system". Open with notepad, and you will see a line
sysBackupNum = x

where x is the number of turns the game backs up. You can modify this is you wish, the higher the number, the more back up turns you create.

Game options and ongoing PBEM games

Sat Apr 06, 2013 11:41 am

I solved this by copying the folders to my own archive location.

Now recycling this thread for another question:

I have a PBEM going on for some time, but now I want to play against the AI using some different game options.

Do the options affect the ongoing games, or do they have their own options stored in the save games?

I am talking about the 'Historical Attrition', 'Delayed Engagement' and 'Activation penalties' for P2P games.

But also, can you start different games against the AI using different AI options, like bonuses given to the AI?

I rather not experiment with this while playing the PBEM.

Changes in the menu options (game and AI) will have immediate effect IIRC
Meaning, you can change them during a game.
But they will affect any game that you then start or continue, so of you want different games with different AI settings, you will have to remember changing them before starting or continuing each different game

IIRC :)

Have 2 installations of the game, call one AJEPBEM.
"Umbrellas will not be opened in the presence of the enemy." Duke of Wellington before the Battle of Waterloo, 1815.

"Top hats will not be worn in the Eighth Army" Field-Marshal Viscount Montgomery of Alamein K.G.

Thanks, I did that.

Question: can I delete everything in the script folder?
I get the impression that it is only a kind of logging of the script processing?

Scripts folder have the logs of the scripts and also the scripts files that are used to generate the scenarios.

You can delete the contents indeed - but why ?

'the scripts files that are used to generate the scenarios' doesn't sound like they can be deleted, or are they copied to the scripts folder for one time use?

I like to clean up ;)

I also removed all save games in my copied AJE (BOR, actually) instance.

And some time in the future you will ask me to send my scripts folder when something goes wrong, and then it has grown too big?

The scripts to generate the scenarios are indeed there as a reference and also as for modding. They are not needed to play
