Can't move units not locked/PBEM replays?

Tue Jan 01, 2013 6:22 am

Hi

I have started playing my first AJE PBEM, as Pontics in The Great Mithridatic War.

1. There are some stacks of units in the East which are not shown as locked but I am unable to move them out of their region. Nothing else seems to indicate that these units are any different to the units that I can move, Regardless of where I try to move them to, I get a message "This region is cannot be entered: the region is neutral or blocked in this scenario". This seems very odd and makes little sense. What is going on here?

2. I am not host the PBEM, I have only submitted my first turn order file to the host, he has sent me back the turn 2 .trn file, but I have yet to be able to view a replay. There seems to be something wrong somewhere. I am guessing it has something to do with the names of files/renaming of files. I now see in the manual a note that says "Do NOT rename any AJE files externally to the game." I think this may have happened somewhere along the line, possibly when I received the first PBEM file from the host.

When I go to the Replay screen, there is an entry there for what would be our game, it doesn't load. Oddly, the mouse pointer pulses/flashes from the finger pointer to an hourglass and back.
Is there something I can do to fix any of this?

Thanks

Bull

He also has to send you .rpl file.

OK. I now have the .rpl and .trn files in a sub-directory of SAVED that I created.
The name of the directory, then name of the .rpl and the name of the .trn are all different.
Does this matter?

Replay is still not working and I am still getting the mouse pointer pulsing/flashing from the finger pointer to an hourglass and back when I enter the Replay menu.

What is wrong?

They (the .trn and .rpl) all need to have the same name to work correctly. If they are different, then you can't see the replay.

OK. I have manually renamed the replay file to be the same as the .trn file but still no luck. Same thing happening. I have started our PBEM again this time with me hosting. Hopefully things work this time.

Any comments of the "locked" unlocked units I mentioned?

Sorry, no, I have not played the Pontics yet. They may unlock by event (for example war with Rome), or they may unlock on a certain turn.

The host would have had to send you the .rpl and .trn with the same name. It was probably not the same game or turn, and thus gave no replay.

The units don't LOOK locked (no padlock symbols), they just can't move anywhere. Is it a bug or some other undocumented mechanic?

I am confused now that you say that the .rpl and .trn files all need to have the same name. I have done my own testing and the game automatically just creates a .rpl file with a name like "Replay_ROM.rpl" for example. This seems to be created regardless of what the name of the .trn file was/is.

You are correct, my mistake. I was thinking of AACW.

''The region is neutral or Blocked in this scenario'' message means that these regions will be unlocked only by event.
Blocked region does not allow you to move yours stacks, even if stacks are not locked.

Please provide a screenshot of the unlocked stacks in blocked regions and we will inform you wich events will unblock them.
