Interpreting Battle End Results?

Fri Dec 21, 2012 2:33 pm

Hey guys,

I was wondering if someone could help me understand how I am supposed to interpret a battle in AJE (or other AGEOD titles as well, of which I own 4 currently).

For example, I was playing the Caesar vs Pompey Civil War campaign and at the end of my battle, I seemed to have lost quite a few CAV elements, whereas the enemy had mainly infantry losses... so what happened? Did my cavalry simply charge the enemy legion, killed a lot and routed them but suffered heavy casualties as a result?

Or generally speaking, how do you guys interpret your own battle results? Further question: are combat rounds supposed to be one hour long?

I find the battle reports a bit too abstract for my taste, and would like to make more sense of them.

Lovin' the game. A lot!

Regards,

V.

Also, I have yet to see my cavalry make any charges (as the game manual mentions) or my infantry stand firm against enemy cav charges.

The same with RoP or NPC: I haven't yet seen any "squares" formed.

Cavalry has a tendency to die quickly in AJE. You will see a lot of damage from them. To find a more detailed battle log, you need to look at the logs. There is a battle log generated after each turn. You can find it, and see the battle (each turn). The logs are found in a folder called Logs in the AJE folder. This will tell you everything that happened (like chances to hit, damage done, etc.)
Remember - The beatings will continue until morale improves.
