Loosing rome = instant defeat?

Sun Sep 23, 2012 5:18 pm

I was playing with Albinus in the Severus scenarios and something weird happened.

I had taken control of Italy and was soundly beating the Severan incursions into my territory, the Severans were also beaten by the Parthian and Armenian backed Pescenius on the other side of the map, the only front where I was having some problems was Hispania where a isolated Severan landng force took a couple of towns in my soft underbelly.

And then suddenly way before the enddate I got a defeat screen saying Pescenius won because of a rovolt in Rome which put the city in hands of unaligned rebels, which I found weird since nothing indicated that loosing Rome meant instant defeat. Is this a normal rule I failed to notice or something else might have happened?

We need your ScripReports, whole Script folder (AJE/Scripts).

Please post it in archive format.

Though I started to think that perhaps I lost due to low nm (I had t around the 40s), at which level do I loose due to it?

Just to say that I did another campaign playing as Pescennius Niger and once Albinus captured Rome from Didius I got a minor defeat screen, still only in the 19th turn.

Here it is http://i.imgur.com/gjdNG.jpg

I assume I can't continue the campaign with no problems neverthless until I feel I earned a victory, or does the victory screen have any real effect ingame?

Clodius win because , Victory setting is 175 and his has 176.

You can continue playing, Victory screen will not affect your ongoing game.

Oh, I thought the morale only affected the outcome in case someone gets it too low. Is there any way to turn this off? I wouldn't like to get a defeat without having even had a say in the matter.

One could say that you've definitely had your chances to affect the outcome if your NM really reaches 25.. ;)

The option to turn sudden death was available in ROP (IIRC), but haven't seen it in the options now.
