Merging leaders

How does one merge leaders and units within a stack? For example, suppose I have Caesar leading a stack with another general, we can call him Titus, and the X legion in it. I want to merge Titus with the X legion so he is in charge of that unit. The manual didn't really tell me how to do that. How is this possible?

Select both the leader and the unit (with control+left click) on the unit panel and then click on the (+) button on one of the button tabs on the left of the unit panel. This will merge them. Then you will be able to unmerge them with the (-) button.
