Best AJE PBEM Scenario?

Mon Jul 22, 2013 6:42 pm

I have almost played each of the sides in all of the scenarios of AJE except the Caesar-Pompey scenario. It seems any side can win against the AI but I suspect in PBEM there is often one very weak side in most scenarios which may not have much of a chance surviving against human opposition. At the moment, I am leaning towards the Septimius Severus scenario as the best PBEM scenario in which all sides have a decent shot at victory. So what does everyone else think as the best AJE scenario for PBEM in which all sides have a reasonable possibility of victory?

Septimus Severus indeed.

You might want to give the strongest side (Severus) to the weakest player, and the weakest side (Clodius) to the best, but really it is the most balanced.

Hehe, I wonder if Clodius is really the weaker side? It seems whoever takes Rome first has a substantial advantage. I suspect Clodius might be able to take Rome before Severus. And if Severus focuses on Rome, he is exposed to Pescenius in the East. And should Pescenius send everything into Greece and then on to Rome or perhaps divert send some forces to take Carthage as well? Very interesting scenario with some difficult strategic choices.

Clodius is the weakest? Against the AI he is the strongest because it's pretty easy to grab Rome first.
