Playing the Samnite war, I ran into some strange happenings at Capua.
After some battles, I was laying siege to a Samnite town, while they went for Capua. At the end of the first turn Capua surrendered. Can happen, though it took me longer to subdue the enemy towns. Took the Samnite town, went to Capua, took the town after 5 or 6 turns. Meanwhile I destroyed he Samnite armies with other troops. Chasing the last of the Samnites, we changed regio's a few times. At the end of the turn the Samnite fugtives ended up in Capua. Next turn Capua surrendered to the few hunderd men the Samnites had left. I had to lay siege again.... So I lay siege with one army, while the other troops took north Italy. After some turns there were no other enemies or enemy towns left except Capua. I had been sieging it about 10 turns when I started to wonder how long this was going to take... this was in -296. In -293 I still had not taken the town. Just hit "next turn"and read the messages, and each turn we "were sieging Capua but nothing happened". My force outside Capua consisted of 4 legions, leaders and assorted allies. Then I noticed the message in the turnlog that I was sieging Capua disappered. To make sure, I send my troops to another region, and then back the next turn. I got the "we are sieging Capua, but nothing happened" message once, next turn nothing again. I then quit the game - I guess my troops are still outside Capua....
During this multi year siege of Capua, I took several other towns, so the siege resolution in general was working...
