Pontus Alliance?

Thu Nov 29, 2012 4:13 am

Playing the Great Mithridatic War Scenario as Sertorius and I noticed something on the ledger which says "Pontus offers Sertorius an alliance" but I see nothing on my actions screens to let myself accept/reject this? Is this just a one sided event or has the event not been made yet?

Oh... never mind... I just got to the next turn! Since I wasted this thread another question: Does Caesar show up in the Great Mithridatic War as some say (and it's seen in the movie and TV show) he fought in the 3rd Servile War and I have read he served in a war against Pontus as a private citizen though I'm not 100% sure of when this would be and if it fits the games timeline. Related, does Sertorius show up with the Marian's?

I never seen in the scenario though I never played with Rome so he could have been in another front.

And afaik there is no evidence he fought in the 3rd Servile War, I mean a man like him most probably did but there are no records of him during that war.

From Adrian Goldworthy's Book on Caesar, published by Yale, he says it's possible Caesar was, as he was a military tribune at the time and he's not mentioned being sent abroad. Generally that meant someone was kept in Italy, and if Caesar was in Italy at the time of the 3rd Servile War likely he participated. Goldworthy speculates that Caesar probably didn't do anything spectacular like he did in other wars since his name doesn't come up, but he probably didn't fail spectacularly either since it's never brought up by his opponents.
