I love this forum!

A couple weeks ago, I started a somewhat controversial thread, about not nerfing Caesar. Most of the comments disagreed with me. But everyone was polite, supported their position with reasoned arguments and facts, and there were no insults or personal attacks. I enjoyed the discussion, and learned a few things.

That is the way things should be. In contrast, the Paradox forums are patrolled by people who will attack anyone who they think is disagreeing with anything Paradox decides to do, and express their feelings with a mixture of unsupported claims, rude comments, and personal attacks designed to belittle the poster. Certainly not everyone on the Paradox forum is like that, but far too many are.

Courtesy is basic to civilization, and I want to express my gratitude to the members of this forum for showing it.

Agreed. I've been on a few game and dev forums over the years, and the AGEOD guys are a rare bunch. Not only do they foster a good atmosphere to discuss their games, they're also pretty thick skinned when it comes to criticism over their own creations. Listening to their core supporters also helps them improve their future products. So many companies ignore their base, usually at their peril.

Although I do share your opinion about the AGEOD forums I have to disagree with you with Paradox since in my opinion it is one of the best game developer communities out there In my years there I really only saw what you said a handful of times ,though that's pretty normal once a forums attracts a certain amount of users, Bioware on the other hand forums would be a much better of example of what you said.

Though I did notice that Paradox apparently enjoys a pretty low reputation around here :P

This forum is great. Very instructive and really polite. People loving wargames and taking them seriously, more reasoning than arguing. And a nice implication of developers.

But I shouldn't compare ageod with Paradox, which I consider a good forum also, and a good company indeed. (A little off topic: if you want to see a forum massive disagreement with Paradox decisions, take a look to reactions about new DLC for Crusader Kings II, a fantasy? scenario with Azteks invading western Europe).

I have had a different experience than you, though I would agree that Bioware is worse.
