The Didians in the Septimius Severus Senario

Sat Sep 15, 2012 7:05 pm

Having pre-ordered the game I start having a look and notice that the Didian faction in the Septimius Severus scenario isn't playable for some reason. Is there a reason. Are they so weak that there would be no point playing as them. Or didn't you want a four player scenario.

I don't know for sure, but my guess is for the same reason Galba isn't playable in the four emperors scenario. The assassination of the sitting emperor is what leads to the conflict presented at the start of those scenarios.

Galba is dead at the start of the 4 Emperors scenario Didius survives for until Septiminus takes the city some time after the start of the scenario.

Well, one way to start the 193 scenario would be to create the 4 way struggle after Pertinax's assassination. That way Didius could be a player. However, it would seem that 2 or 3 way struggles seem to be the way of things in these scenarios. Maybe integrating that 4th AI was too much. Good question though. It would be fun to try and actually make a go of it with Didius, the man who bought himself a crown.

Didius faction is very weak : the poor little rich boy has only the praetorians with him, and no legions.

He has the two romans fleets too.

But yes, for masochist guys, he can be played I think, if you want...

When i looked he had a couple of legions. But how come you can't play as Clodius Albinus? who was proclaimed emperor by the legions in Britain and Hispania after the murder of pertinax.

??
Playable factions in Severus scenario are Severus, Clodius and Pescenius.

To play Didius, only by modding. And most of the events/options do not exist for Didius...

You can create the 4th faction by modding in some scenarios, like this:

Nothing extraordinary, btw. Those are weak factions, buth who knows.

Yeh but is there a reason the Didians aren't playable?

It would be funny to see Didius' unit panel. It would be his portrait icon lined up next to several elements of little coin bags. ;)

Gold might help build an empire, but it can do very little in fighting for it. Didius found out the hard way that an extreme level of bribery is often the quickest way to end a career rather than start one.

Haha that's awesome!

All I'd have to say to Didian players is... good luck. You'll need it. ;)
