Constant crashes

Tue Oct 30, 2012 7:51 pm

Hi I started to play RUS a few weeks ago but it has always been extremely slow and uses most of page file in the memory.
After reading some similar posts on this forum, I changed reduced the maximum texture to 25%. However, the game will not even start after I made this change.
Any ideas on how to fix this problem? Thanks.

check <install path>\RUS\settings ... there you'll see .opt files, which can be opened with a text editor. Check now general.opt file, there is an entry like
MemUsage = 75

Change it to say 50 to start with and launch again the game.

Thanks. The game can start now. But it still takes up a lot of the page filing space on my computer, any suggestions as to how to reduce this? Thanks again.

the game is very sensitive to HD fragmentation, because some data are split into thousands files. So I would say: de-fragment all your partitions, plus be sure that you have at least 5 gigs of free HD both on the Windows partition and the one where you run the game (can be the same...)

Game loading time may vary immensely between computer. I know that our dear moderator just got a new computer with SSD drive, and he went from 3 mn to 25 secs for RUS!

Thanks again. I defragged the drive and it seems to load quicker. However, the rounds are resolved extremely slowly and task manager frequently shows the game as not responding. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.

It can be because of the monitoring of the game files from an anti virus or Windows UAC. Have you installed the game elsewhere than on C:?

Also perhaps logging is done too often, there is an entry called logbatch in RUS\settings\general.opt, try putting 100 instead of the current value.
