Troop Region Restrictions in Short Campaign

Had a lot of fun with the Polish-Russian War scenario but finally finished up with it. :) I am now moving on to the short campaign. I have noticed that both the southern whites and siberian whites have large numbers of troops which are restricted to specific regions. Apparently those troops are very reluctant to fight outside their home regions. Their special abilities state that region restricted units suffer significant penalties when they leave their home regions. What exactly are those penalties? Are the penalties so severe that it makes no sense to risk them outside their home regions?

This ability don't works and have no effects in the current version.

But it will in the next patch/upgrade of the game.

Thanks Andatiep! I think I will play vs the AI keeping the region specific troops within their home regions except for small raids and scouting.

Actually large numbers of the starting White troops are region restricted. Dependent on the actual negative impact of troops leaving their home regions, fixing the region ability may have noticeable impact on play balance. The whites are not nearly as strong offensively considering the percentage of troops which do not want to leave their home regions. Also players probably should focus on non-restricted troops when building new formations.

Actually I suspect play balance can be easily achieved by using the command restrictions. Even though many white troops are region restricted, they still have a significant command advantage. Using the command option with penalties for inactivated commanders would probably balance things out nicely. I am trying it now as the Siberian Whites vs AI.

Has anyone been able to figure out why some units don't get the out of region penalty? I recently noticed that Ukrainians units will suffer the out of region penalty when moving out of the Ukraine. Yet most other unit types such as Don Cossacks don't suffer the penalty after leaving their region. This suggests the problem lies within the ability, units or models files rather than the engine. I thought the problem was within the ability files because some units define the ability as applying to self, while others define the ability as applying to unit. But after making changes to ability files, apparently not. So anyone solved this problem yet?

Yes, it is solved in the last Beta... the one you will get soon to test and confirm it (or not ;) ).
