What are other people finding works best to make up a division? Are many small divisions better than a few large ones?
In AACW the ideal structure for an Infantry Division was commonly thought to be 11 Infantry, 4 Artillery, 1 Cavalry and a Sharp Shooter unit. This maxed out the 17 available slots. The Cav and SS units gave the unit various bonuses while 4 Arty was said to be the max commonly deployable. The 11 poor-bloody-infantry filled out the remaining space.
In RUS you may now only include 9 units in a Division, but these 9 units may each have multiple elements, taking the total element count well above that possible in AACW. Presumably you could use 5 of the 5 Inf/1 Art/1Cav "Divisions" make a 30 element mega Division.
I'm not entirely certain how the battles are calculated in RUS, but i assume they are not done significantly different to AACW. If this is so, and there are limits to the number of elements normally deployable in battle, then is there an advantage to forming maxed out divisions?
Also, what significant advatages are there to the various Light Infantry types to justify their longer build times? Ditto for Light Arty vs the different Heavier Arty types (i.e 75/105mm Howitzer/Field Arty which both have the same combat value)?
