Tauentzien

And this is a (bad) picture of general Tauentzien (PRU). Perhaps could you make something with that ?

Cool...it would be great if someone could collect all those portraits in one single archive...when we have 20-30 available, then we can find out if the artist has time (and we have budget) for them  :coeurs:

No news from Pangi?

Perhaps you should include him in the beta team ;) I was hoping that he was going to get into the units after doing some portraits more :)

That one was not a military commander, was he?

http://de.wikisource.org/wiki/ADB:Kolowrat-Krakowsk%C3%BD,_Leopold_Graf_von

The one in the game is Emmanuel Kollowrat

Friedrich August von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel, in the game there are two Braunschweig, Bevern and Ferdinand von Braunschweig and none is the one you posted, not sure of Bevern's portrait yet but of course Ferdinand is very important and his portrait is right

What name uses in the game the third one you cited. Can only find Bevern and Ferdinand

Edit: Oh, I see him now, Brunswick and Braunschweig is the same :neener:

Three brothers of Frederick the Great in the game

Two of them have right portraits Heinrich and (August) Wilhelm, the one killed by his evil brother in 1758 :neener:

The younger (August) Ferdinand apparently not, WIA?

Born in 1730 he looks old for the SYW in this portrait that seems to be the best

So perhaps this one?

New pack, 4 PRU, 1 AUS and 1 HRE

Not sure whether Borislav and Dubislav are equivalents names, but pretty sure that this is the one of the SYW, Dubislav Friedrich von Platen

Slightly better portrait of Borislav von Tauentzien

Friedrich Finck von Finckenstein

August von Itzenplitz

Wilhelm von Neipperg. He was old in the SYW but is in the database, so here he is

And just in case somebody is going to create the portraits, free or not :D

Friedrich Michael, Pfalzgraf von Zweibrücken-Birkenfeld. The portrait in the game is young and effeminate (right), and in 1760 he looked like this (left)

On the right when he was old and maréchal de France, on the left the look on the SYW but very small portrait

Von Belling portrait is not used for vB himself but for austrian Lucchese(i) and another prusian commander? Do not remember it I have not acces to the game right now.

The portrait "Unit_PRU_Loen" which is based on Wilhelm von Belling isn't used for Loen or Lucchese anymore (since patch 1.02). However, Belling (Model: "456PRUWilhelm von Belling") still has the generic "Norbert" image.

Déjà vu

Fri Oct 29, 2010 3:46 am

When I am bored I like to polish the games I am playing to my personal liking (some years back I added historical portraits to ACW for my personal use, only to find out that there was somebody on this forum who had done such an amazing job at the same task that I quickly discarded most of my work).

Right now, I can't sleep so I am looking through RoP.
I found a nice portrait of Prittwitz, looked in the model file and saw that he didn't have one of his own. So I made this.

But when I wanted to save it I found this in the graphics folder.

Talk of déjà vu!

Well, dear AGEOD, you might want to add the existing Prittwitz portrait to the "445PRUJoachim von Prittwitz" mdl-file in the next patch. I am not sure if the portrait is used for somebody else right now.

We need the portraits in both the Unit and the Army formats (otherwise one will be missing or look different from the other) ;)

I know, I only posted the picture as part of the annecdote how I discovered you were wasting Prittwitz's existing picture. Never finished the second picture after discovering that.

However, here are two generals whom I did finish:

Möllendorf:

Stutterheim (Joachim, not Otto):

They don't meet AGEOD's style as much as I would like to, but still a whole lot better than the generic eyeless general. I hate that guy.

If somebody wants to use them, be my guest.

And since I haven't seen an explanation on how to get unis graphics into the game in this thread, here is how I do it (there might be easier ways, but I am no programmer).

1) copy the Unit_ ...png files in your RoP\Graphics\Units folder

2) copy the Army_...png files in your RoP\Graphics\Armies&Fleets folder

3) Go into your RoP\GameData\Models folder. Open "467PRUWichard von Mollendorf.mdl". Search for "Unit_Norbert.png" replace it with "Unit_PRU_Moellendorf.png". Save.

4) Do the same with "452PRUJoachim Stutterheim (Alt-)". Replace "Unit_Norbert.png" with "Unit_PRU_JoachimStutterheim.png".

5) Delete the "Models.Cached" file in the same folder. Don't worry, the file will be recreated automatically with the updated information the next time RoP is launched.

Note: You won't get into any trouble with future patches by AGEOD. The RoP patch replaces all the leader.mdl files anyway.

Here is another addition: A Swiss cavalry general with a very Roman name: Robert Scipio Lentulus. "479PRURobert Scipio Lentulus.mdl"

By the way: Why does the default graphic have no eyes? I find that somewhat disturbing.

I think, I finally figured out a way to get closer to the RoP portrait style. Takes a lot more work however.
Here is my attempt at the Austrian general Wilhelm von Neipperg (644AUSWilhelm von Neipperg.mdl).

I hope you like it.

One more I had in the pipeline. Had to try this one twice before I got a version I like.

Charles d'Ursel (639AUSCharles d'Ursel.mdl)

However, I have run out of historical portraits. I know my work falls short of what Pangi has done, but if someone posts new pictures than I might give it a shot.

Thank you. Looked them through. Some of the portraits in the file are of leaders who already have portraits. Two others were of generals I had already posted here.
That leaves six at whom I will try my hand. I will post them en bloque once I am done.

While screening the portraits I found one general who is wrongly named:
"512HANMoritz von Schaumburg-Lippe.mdl"
In believe, this is supposed to be Wilhelm von Schaumburg-Lippe, Major-General and Commander of the Allied artillery (which would explain the artillerist trait).

I have just uploaded a zip file in the mod forum which contains all the leader graphics I have done for RoP so far (including another 4 new ones).

Dear AGEOD, if you want to include these pictures into future patches, it would be my pleasure. For now the zip file includes changed mdl files for the concerned leaders in order to facilitate it for people to get them into the game.

That is the main reason I haven't posted the file in this thread, too. I guess few people would search this thread all the way through just in order to get some new portraits. I hope I am not stepping on any toes with this approach.

Could anybody, hint, hint, change the uniforms slightly of the British Household cavalry units in the game? :D
All the british heavy cavalry is shown as wearing a cuirass when they didn't. It just needs to be coloured over in red, or blue for the "Blues".

On the same topic the 23rd Foot figure also needs changing so that it looks like a fusilier of the period, with a mitre.

Thanks in advance if anybody can come up with these.

Have you pictures which show how those uniforms looked at the period?

I am not promising anything but I would give it a try. However, units graphics is new territory for me (and more complex because you need three sets of graphics instead of just two for a leader).

In my last Austrian campaign Adolf von Buckow performed outstandingly well.
So I decided to honour him by making a portrait that actually bears his likelihood. ;)

I have posted the full set with my leader pack in the mod forum.

http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=19054

By the way, it seems von Buckow historically spelled his name "von Buccow".

I took a look - awesome page by the way. Thank you! :)

If I understand you correctly, your main issue with the current graphis is this:

Ebbingford wrote:All the british heavy cavalry is shown as wearing a cuirass when they didn't.

However, it seems as if the AGEOD team might have picked up on an upgrade to the standard uniform:

"In 1758, before its transfer to Germany, its cavalrymen each received a cuirass and an iron skull-cap." At least that is the information found here:

Ebbingford wrote:On the same topic the 23rd Foot figure also needs changing so that it looks like a fusilier of the period, with a mitre.

The British fusiliers do indeed look off. Furthermore, I never liked the colours of British infantry in the game. So that is where I will start.
