I'm having trouble with CTDs with QF1.

Tue Oct 11, 2011 2:28 am

I sincerely hate Windows 7. I cannot get the file to zip. I keep trying to send it to Zip and it says Read only, so I go into properties and click off read only and apply and click OK. It reverts back to read only automatically.

Anyway, I'm having trouble with a lot of CTDs on Quick Fix 1 and I was not having any CTDs on the previous 1.03 RC4.

Sorry I can't add file.

sounds like the update went to wrong location

try turning off UAC
try running as administrator

If all else fails, just upload !Main log.txt from \Logs (no zip necessary)

I had similar issues with Windows 7. Follow lodilefty's advice and run as administrator or turn off UAC (Google this if a new term) this fixes most Windows 7 issues. You can run as an administrator two ways, right click and select or go into properties and change.
Are you running the game as administrator?
Zipping in Windows 7 is actually easier than in any other operating system. Are you using the right click zip option?
Do not hate Windows 7 too soon, it lets you play all the old game you used to love.

One new problem I experienced with CTD is distant unload and review of Battle results on the ledger. Is this when it is crashing? If so, I see the same issue, so may be a bug.

I'm pretty sure I already have done all that, but I'll check again.

How do you turn off the UAC? I just thought of something. I turned it off on my old computer but I do not think I did for this one and cannot remember how.

I always run everything as administrator, so it is not that.

Thank you very much. I think that did it. I've been using the invasion of Saxony scenario to test it. Before the fixes suggested, I was getting a CTD every other turn or even more than that. Numerous messages during the turn of RoP has encountered an error.

Anyway, I just ran the scenario to see if the CTD fix worked for me and I did not have one CTD.

Thank you.
