ROP Official patch 1.02

Sat Apr 17, 2010 2:57 pm

Dear players,

Here it is at least, in its 'official' format. Two notes of importance:

a) If you already used one of the release candidate, than you can put your saves folder aside, apply the patch and add it back, because this patch erase all saved games (not compatible with 1.00 or 1.01)

b) The readme list the changes from 1.00 to 1.02 in several different sections. basically, if you only had 1.00 and not 1.01, the entire readme file is the list of change (that's even more impressive, no? :) ).

=======================================================================================
Rise of Prussia Update 1.02
April 12, 2010
=======================================================================================
The patch is a comprehensive patch, meaning it can be applied directly over your initial game installation setup version.

All saved games will be erased by the patch, as this version is not compatible with previously started games.

Engine:
* Fixed bug where selection of the last choice in Multi-Choice Event would not allow player to change the selection
* Seige parameters adjusted and new rules and parameters added:
If there is a supply unit or a depot with at least some remaining supplies, then there is a 95% chance that any surrender event is aborted. If there is not such unit or structure, or the chance roll fails, then a surrender event can happen (others possible events are: make a breach or nothing). In the case that besieged units are under siege by a larger force, have some units unsupplied and a breach is already existing, then the surrender event has an increased chance to happen, because it is based on the discipline of the besieged units and such units will get a -3 modifier to the roll.
* Unit detail display for Construction Mode enabled
* Fixed various 'retreat bugs' as discussed in AGEOD forum

Events
* Added check in Ferdinand to Brunswick event to be sure he is still only a 2* [and still alive!!]
* Modified all Multi-Choice events to have 'default selection' in case player doesn't choose an option
* Saxony Capitulation event [1756] now only eliminates Saxon forces still in the Saxony Theater. 'Escaped' leaders and units survive.
* Swedish Reinforcement Options - added small Brigades 1&2 and Support 1 to setups 1759 and 1760 as appropriate. Restricted "ON" dates for these options to prevent duplicates.
* Danzig: Multi-choice Event. Danzig [Gdansk] POL now, but was more or less an independent autonomous city. Russian and Austrian tried to woo the city to join their side, when their situation was not so good, but Prussian money prevented this. If AUS successful, they take over the city + large amount of supplies + depot there (to be under RUS subfaction). If PRU successful, Gdansk remains Polish and neutral. {PRU has priority: if they spend the money, it really doesn't matter what AUS chooses}
* Fixed duplicate appearances of Kleine Krieg units after 1758
* Fixed Duke of Cumberland arrival to ensure he joins Zastrow of HAN, not Zastrow of PRU
* Fixed duplicate appearance of AUS leader Spada in 1756 Campaign
* In Saxon Capitulation, ensured removal of Rotkowski if he fails to escape Saxony
* Added "Fleet to Winter Quarters" for RUS and SWE blockade fleets for winter of 1761-62

Setups
* Added Riverine Supply assets
* Removed duplicate RUS leader Rumyantsev from 1760 Setup
* Corrected starting 1756 Prussian ForcePool to have Regular Depot Bn in addition to Grenadier Depot Bn [typo in DB had Grenadier twice]
* Corrected on-map display of "1 leader/1 regiment" units to show leader properly
* Added Swedish Brigade reinforcements that were still available in options to the setups 1759 and 1760
* Sudden Death enabled in all Scenarios and Campaigns
* Auto-Garrison enabled in all Campaigns and Acenarios

DB
* Corrected Infantry elements of PAL regiments to be PAL, not BRU
* Corrected PRU and SAX Grenadiers Depot Bn to yield Elite replacements
* Added *screener* attribute to most Cavalry models [not heavy cav (cuirassier/gd corps)]
* Added *assaulter* attribute and 'Assaulter' ability [can assault unbreached fortress] = assigned to Ernst von Laudon
* Corrected text tooltips for several options that were not clear that player is buying replacements
* Corrected the Depot Bn for SAX, HRE, BAV and WUR to give Regular Replacements [were giving Elite]
* All leaders movement type changed to allow faster movement when alone
* All Grenadiers are now Elite troops [for replacement purposes]
* Added parameters to Models to enable Generic Leader Promotions
* Army names for Russia 'localized'
* Brigades are now named after the Brigade commander

Graphics
* Several Leader graphics upgrade [thank you Nikel and PANGI]
* Updated NATO stmbols for Militia
* Adjusted color schemes for various filters

Strings
* Several minor string corrections
* German language version corrections and additions

AI
* Reduced Interest in OMB attacks by Prussia

Events additions
Economics: Added Economic events to add $ for the Coalition (options):

- Jean de Laborde (AUS financer, same as AUS above)

DB
* Added PRU Freikorps leader Carl Guichard (+ improve F.Kleist, currently undervalued)
* Added PRU artillery expert Colonel Von Moller (to arrive embedded with the first Brummers guns)
* Created different militia versions for each major nation in order to have regional recruitment (also need to *add corresponding area-bound abies)
* Improved AUS artillery units (the 12’ pdr of Austrian were the best guns, far above others, thanks to general K. Liechstenstein efforts in the 1750’s)

Engine
* Retreat : ensure 100% success of retreat after second round of battle.
* Pursuit after battle : reduce the damages from pursuit in function of battle duration
* Pursuit after battle : reduce the damages from pursuit in function of retreater size

* Economics: Add Economic events to add $ for the Coalition (options). We could at least find 3 historical events for them (may be with pic to be done)
- Karl von Zinzendorf (AUS Exchequer, got money from loans from local gentry)
- Paris de Montmartel (FRA financer, got loan from Spain – before the latter joined the war)
- Jean de Laborde (AUS financer, same as AUS above)
* Kaunitz : the AUS PM, very good diplomat… may be some extra random EP
* Berlin ransomed: offer an option to a capturing AUS that Berlin is ‘spared’ in exchange of lot of $$ (happened historically in October 1758)
* AI options for reinforcements: converted to simple events. Human player only gets these as options
* AI “choice” events for options in separate file. Prioritized and some checks for “rationality” added

Thanks Pocus.

Some little glitches

The update.rtf has not been updated

Wedell armies and fleets portrait is still the wrong one, still do not know why he appears in front, is not Bevern commanding the column? Can someone explain?

I am on turn 8 of the long campaign and have had the "Poor sanitation" event fire 3 times so far. :(
I could be just plain unlucky but it does seem a tad too frequent at the moment.

Nikel, for some reason Wedell has higher seniority than Bevern. The same occurs for Prince William who outranks Schwedt (aka Markgraf Karl). I wouldn't be astonished if these ranks and seniority were correct but that old Fritz overode ranks and seniority to give command to those with more merit (Bevern and Schwedt)...

Wedell and Bevern are both 2* generals, Wedell seniority is 52, Bevern 54. ;)

Thanks for the answers, but then the OOB is wrong?

Because Wedell is commanding a brigade but Bevern is alone

The left column was commanded by Bevern according to kronoskaf site

As I mentionned, so was Markraf's column by Schwedt (aka Markgraf Karl) and not by Prince William of Prussia. The question is whether the in game seniority is the historic one (which is likely as Frederick the Great didn't seem to bother much about seniority). If not the correct in simple, if yes either seniority has to be tweaked to represent Frederick's favour rather than actual seniority, or an alternative to seniority has to be found...

Playing as Prussia I see that the Frei battalions are made up of 4 units of light infantry each of which have the "skirmisher" ability. The Jaegers that you can build though are made up of 4 units of light infantry which do not have the skirmisher ability, and one unit of mounted jaegers that do. Shouldn't the jaegers also have the skirmisher ability?

That would seem logical, if you lose the mounted jäger you'd also lose the skirmisher ability, which makes no sense in this case...

It's the same for all of the jaegers, Prussian, Hesse, Brunswick and Hanover, only the mounted elements have the skirmisher ability, not the light infantry.

Merci

Yes, and I've been informed by a "reliable souce" that

IMHO no change...light infantry in that time, apart from the models mentionned , did not fight like LI in Napoleonic era...may be we can extend the skirmisher ability to Frei Bataillone, but I think they have it already

....and yes, Frei Bataillone already has Skirmisher ability...

Pour l'instant la version electronique est la 1.00, donc il faut l'installer d'abord et patcher ensuite (mais le patch est gratuit et pas lourd)

Nous ferons prochainement une version complète 1.02

Passive posture and priority for replacements

Sat Apr 24, 2010 6:16 pm

I don't think that the passive posture is helping a unit receive priority replacements. :(
I had Fred's army in passive posture inside Dresden, a level 8 city with a level 2 depot. His artillery batteries had powers of 27, 31, and 32. I had 3 artillery replacements to be used that turn. The next turn the replacements had been used up but his guns were still 27, 31 and 32. No other units on the map were in passive posture apart from Fred's.
Save and backup can be posted if needed.

Edit I have just found an answer from Pocus from the beta forum about this. The passive posture only influences the receiving of whole element replacements and not hit recovery.
Does this hit recovery still depend on the region uid?
It looks like it still depends on a low region uid to receive priority for hit recovery.

Another leader who arrives embedded in his unit but whose portrait does not show is Beckwith with the 88th Highlanders.
Image

At the moment this unit is labelled as "88th Foot", they should be "88th Highlanders, (Campbell's). The other highland unit is correctly the "87th Highlanders" already.

The 88th when it arrives with Beckwith embedded also has a command cost of 0, but if you break the unit up it has a command cost of 1. Is this WAD?

With the sudden death feature now switched on shouldn't it say on the victory page of the ledger, F5, what value the national morale has to fall to in order to trigger an automatic loss?

Just had the following script error playing as Prussia at end of turn processing, game carried on OK.

[Error ] FullDebug: Script Engine Error(s), while parsing line 17483 SetType = UNI_PRU_LOLHOFFEN1
[Error ] FullDebug: Script Engine Error(s), while parsing line 17485 Apply

Line in question and event are

evt_nam_PRU_LeaderReceived_L13

Line 17483: => SetType command Unknown identifier (check if Alias is OK): UNI_PRU_LOLHOFFEN1 This kind of object {Unit} must have his identifier specified as a numeric
Line 17485: => ApplyCreateUnit command, Unit creation aborted, invalid UnitDef type (check if the alias was correct).

The text message for this event appeared OK, " Lolhoffen is awaiting a command" and it was clickable, but no Lolhoffen.

It is Sept 1761 in my campaign and I have just taken the new leader for Prussia option and have had the text message that I have " received a new Prussian general". But there is no generals name listed afterwards which is clickable to show where he is.
Save, log and script report attached.

Interesting "bug"... should mean the 'army' recognition of portrait does not work properly with embedded leaders...can you try this with some other leaders and see if it repeats..? :bonk:

Could that be the turn after you embedded him? I've seen that in AACW, you embed a leader and the icon on the map shows wrong, the following turn it shows the correct commander...

It looks like the bridge that shows on the map between Krems, ID793, and Wien, ID740, is not actually there. To move between these two adjacent regions, connected by major road over a major river, it takes 9 days and the move has to be forced, (Hold down the "Ctrl" button while drag and dropping.) The default path that the program takes is via Korneburg, ID800, and this journey only takes 6 days although it takes in an extra region.

Playing as Austria in the long campaign. I am on turn 6 and have 0 EP's.
The previous turn I had 0 EP's and haven't seen any text messages to say that I have lost any from any event. The turn before that I had 6 EP's and spent 5 on an option from the ledger, again no mention why I lost the other 1 I had.
I am sure that at the start I was getting a few for the first couple of turns so why am I now getting none? I haven't lost any cities, everything is still as it was at the start of the campaign.

You (we if you upload the file ;) ) could look in the ScriptReport.txt (in RoP\Scripts) from you latest turn to find references to Engagement Points. This would at least determine if any events are operating on them.....

Have just gone back to the 2 turns in question and read carefully the text messages I received. I now see in the tooltip that there is a -3EP hit for some of the reinforcements that arrive. As I had several of these over the two turns that will be why I have 0 EP.
Note to self....... Always check to see if there is a tooltip message to go with the text message ;)

The Prussian AI still needs to be tweaked so it has no interest in the OMB's. In my game playing as Austria the Prusian AI has marched it's forces from Koenigsburg straight to St. Petersburg by turn 18.
