Does anyone have any strategy

Mon Nov 29, 2010 4:13 am

for the Prussians?

The Austrians have about 50 generals and everyone of them have 12000 troops or more, while I have about 60K besieging Prag and they have sat there for over 1/2 year and the breach is 3 and still not getting Prag. And the Austrian generals are running all over besieging every city I have.

I'm not new to wargaming but this is getting a little frustrating.

This is the full campaign. And most of the way through 57 and still no budge on Prag. Been there since about March and it is about the time for the snow to come again.

You do know that you can assault forts if you have a number of breaches equal to the fort level (3 in case of Prague)??

Bring more siege guns and a siege specialist perhaps. Also you don't get the report, but each turn the besieger can take hits from your siege... That's always good to know :)

I set my units to assault as soon as the breach got to 3.

This happens sometimes. I brought enormous force to Dresden and there was only 1 garrison unit in the city. I couldn't make the city surrender or breach. it goes like 7 or 8 turns. But When I reload the game it surrenders quickly in that turn.

As Prussian Generals are superb even they have 50 or more generals or 10000-20000 men they are no threat as long as forts can resist. When Frederick, Fredinand get some experince they will be very deadly. I made 6 star experience with Keith and he had 7-7-7 rating if I remember correctly. When they get that experience they can easily win battles and create huge casualties for the enemy in single battle.

Oh and as a more general strategy goes as Prussia I always storm the Saxons at pirna with the whole Elbe army as soon as I can. This way you trade about 10-13k losses on your side for a massive increase in morale (which in turn gives you a steady flow of EP's), few hundred victory points, massive increase in experience for your generals (and you can make most of the corps leaders like Ferdinand or Heinrich three star) and last but not least most of the artilery and supply wagons (which can be used to fortify Lepzig, Berlin and Brunswick in PBEM or to support your forces against the AI).

Thank you. I will try that. I didn't want to go the route I was contemplating where I put everything as easy as possible.

I notice here there is no "Tips and Strategies" forum like on Matrix, but that might be a great help, if we had it. Just a thought.
