cavalry ranged damage

Fri Oct 22, 2010 11:33 pm

Hi everyone!

I´ve just purchased the game. Revising units stats, I noticed that all kinds of cavalry have ranged damage as 0/0. Is this WAD? and, if it is, which sense has to give this units offensive and defensive fire values?

I am unsure of if these are possibly modified stats (i.e., for whatever reason the stack commander causes the stats to decrease to zero for hit and cohesion damage), or if they are in the XLS file. Realistically, cavalry of the era had neglegable effect with ranged weaponry, and even light cavalry tended to have creater effect at close range (i.e., any pistols or carbines were for short range rather than distance).

The Ranged damage 0/0 means that the weapon that the cavalry unit is using is NOT capable of Ranged combat, but only capable of Assault combat, in which case the offensive/defensive hit chances of 4 x 5 or 20% would be applied.

Thanks. I thought that the chances of inflicting damage in assault were determined by the "assault" stats (in the example attached, 8/8, eight points for defensive and eight for offensive)
