AI German Unification

Tue Nov 04, 2014 4:24 am

Denmark annexed Schleswig and Holstein granting Prussia and Austria CBs. But neither has declared war on Denmark months later.

Does that mean that the AI will not attempt to unify Germany as Prussia?

Is there a way to force the AI to at least try?

My game is ending up rather dull. No attempt by AI Piedmont to unify Italy.

No Crimean War (Russia has been locked in a 10+ year war with Japan).

And now no Austro-Prusso-Danish War.

That is one of the weakness of the game is that the AI doesn't unify. There is an alternate unification chain for both Germany and Italy, but I don't think it always works as intended.

Is there a way to script something that will force the AI to go to war with Denmark, Austria, France, etc.?

You can always script a war, but the AI might declare peace the next turn, and thus you don't get the results you normally would (if a player was playing Germany). It is probably better to script the end results of a war that is won (from the already existing script). Not an elegant solution, but a workable one.

I actually can't get the AI to make peace in any of its existing wars.

The UK has been at war with the Netherlands (random crisis) and Mugalistan for 5+ years and Russia has been at war with Japan for 10+ years.

So my concern is less Prussia making peace with Denmark too early and more getting them to do anything to begin with (like Austria, they are just sitting around watching Rebels sit in a province and not doing anything).

The AI is weaker in this game than in most Paradox games, at least in terms of being able to make diplomatic and event-driven decisions.
