Potential New Customer via Steam

Sun Aug 03, 2014 11:25 pm

Been looking into Pride of Nations but I also saw there were issue's with the last patch on Steam. From what I gather on the forums you guys (AGEOD) probably won't have time to get to them until the fall. The problem with letting a ptach sit like that is you could be loosing customers.

I have dozens of box copies of various Matrix titles and over 200 games on Steam. The list also encludes every title Paradox ever developed in house such as the Victoria, Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron, etc but for some reason I have never tried a game developed by you guys. I guess what I am getting at is I am totally your target audience. But having Steam only issue's linger until the fall is not going to get a new consumer into your games.

Some of the issue's that concern me involve DLC scenarios's not being displayed to play and the unit pictures not displaying

(Tried to post a link to a Steam thread , but you need 5 posts before you can do that)

Now I am going to screm fix them now, but with the new visibility of Slitherine titles on Steam that brought you guys new exposure to customers who previously hadn't looked into you. So please re-evaluate the resources you guys have devoted else where and consider the fact you could be loosing sales not just today, but also in the future by not addressing them.

Before peole suggest I get the non-steam version please don't. I enjoy that fact that today, tomorrow, in 5 years time I can click 1 button and get the game fully patched with all DLC installed in one fell swoop. I don't have a huge interest these days to copy directories and apply old patches just to get something to work. If I have to do all that I'll just move on. I also have zero interest in a physical box copy unless it has the benifit of a 200 page manual I can thumb through at will. In this case it does not.

So please consider your business model and the potentially positive exposure the Slitherine-Steam deal can offer. Not addressing things on Steam right now is not going to get you guys any where and you could be pissing away the new exposure.

P.S. I may be just 1 consumer, but I am one who took the time to reflect this opinion. For every one like me there are probably dozens of others who simply spent money else where. Lets not turn this into a flame when I am trying to be positive towards AGEOD and enhance their sale potential.

I see your point, but unfortunately the Developers are currently on holidays, so that they probably won't be able to answer you in the short term...

Just to follow with HerrDan, I am also a newby to PON via Steam, & playing the grand campaign (not the scenarios) I haven't yet encountered the bugs you mentionned. I rather have an annoying crash to menu bug every 10 turns or so, which is not gamebreaking (it only means I have to reload). I don't know either exactly how long a turn makes to process, but for me, it is - almost - about enough time to read a small newspaper article (in the late 1950s, ten years after the beginning of the game).

There is a free demo downloadable to have a look...

The big bugs are the Imortal garrison and the huge lag when using the "B" key or to open the F4 screen, they are in the version 1.04, Pocus did a quickfix that I'm still to test, as at the moment I'm very busy, I didn't see how is the game on 1.04 now.

Cheers.

Hi there,

We don't take think badly, on the contrary. This forum is much more friendly than your usual forum :)

In a nutshell it is true that we only have a quickfix released recently for PON, because our team is stretched thin. Hopefully we will be able to do more in a semi-near future though...
