National decisions

Fri Jan 24, 2014 4:00 pm

Hi
I actually have a lot of national decisions (as literature improvement, limit privileges of nobility, new medals and so on), most of witch reduce militantism and revolt risk.
Due to the fact that I don't actually have any serious revolt risk and militantism is not a big problem, is there any reason to use such decisions? do they have other effects? do they change my national attributes?
I'm asking because they cost money and I would not waste them.
Thank

some do - the education one gives you a percentage point on your average education. New medals gives you a NM boost and some more officers. Others are only really useful if you are trying to solve a problem - best thing to do is to stagger your use of them across a year so if militancy does start to appear you can take it down quickly.

I have a feeling the social security one may give you a population increase - but stand to be corrected on this
AJE The Hero, The Traitor and The Barbarian
PoN Manufacturing Italy; A clear bright sun
RoP The Mightiest Empires Fall
WIA Burning down the Houses; Wars in America; The Tea Wars

Some of them raise contentment as well (which can be needed in most games). As loki100 says, most are useful if you are trying to solve a problem. Keep them for emergencies, as you don't have to use them too often. If you get a financial crisis for example, you will see your contentment go down and your militancy go up, so you may want to keep a few for that (you are safe for 2 years after the last one).
Remember - The beatings will continue until morale improves.

That is great to know that eventhough some decisions might seem unnecessary, there is still a benefit of triggering them besides the immediate benefits (e.g. revolt reduction).
