I was testing to see if badly battered wooden corvettes would be sunk by the harsh weather of the winter seas near Sakhalin, but to my surprise they actually regained hits - repairing at sea. The ability of ship carpenters to repair wooden ships at sea was one of their touted advantages over the newfangled unreliable infernal mechanical ships and their inevitable breakdowns, so this could be considered a feature, if not a bug. I assume this drew on the chits but don't know for sure.
