GIN units still get no replacements (1.3)

Sat Aug 04, 2012 12:49 pm

Game started playing GB with game version 1.2, updated to 1.3 as soon as it got out, but my sepoy troops (GIN) still get no replacements. My game has proceeded to 1866 now, and despite my rather pacifistic test game style my growing colonies need fully staffed sepoy units garrisons to deal with occasional rebellions and for the planned greater wars later in the game.

1.3 has converted all indian built artillery units to GBR, but my GIN infantry and cavalry still can't replace losses. Maybe this is because via F3 there is no visible GIN replacement pool category where I could buy GIN replacements?

I see replacement categories for:
- GBR for my English units (working fine)
- IND (British India) --> no obvious use, never shows hit replacement requests anymore (since all my IND sepoys have been autoconverted to GIN, which probably also should have added a GIN replacement pool category to the war ministry screen - F3 - which didn't happen automatically when it should have?? Or maybe the GIN units don't know they should request and get IND replacements??)
- GSC for my Scottish infantry units (working fine)
- GBT for my African units (working fine)
- GBU for my Gurkha regiments (working fine)
- GCA for my Canadian cavalry regiments (probably working fine, haven't seen combat yet)

So please bring a hotfix to force either a GIN replacement category into ongoing games (which GIN troops actually know how to use) or otherwise force all GIN units to request and get replacements from the existing IND replacement pool. We GB players shouldn't have to manage our Empires with a bugged nonfunctional GIN replacement procedure.

Great game by the way, thanks for your efforts to bring it to us and for your dedication to further improve it. :)

I'm having this problem too on my single player game. The GIN tab doesn't show at all, I think it is due to the "Last Indian Emperor" event not firing and creating the tab at all. If I'm right, could someone please post an event file that we can put into the plugin folder to force the event and create the tab? If I'm totally wrong, then I would love to know whats wrong because it worked perfectly in our multiplayer game and I now have replacements for everything showing up.

That is indeed odd.

Odd? Just a piece of code/script which doesn't behave as it should, requiring a debugging effort.

While the hunt for the real bug goes on, an improvised hotfix would be extremely welcome: If GIN units exist --> please force a working GIN replacement mechanism into ongoing games. I have a suspicion that my GIN units keep waiting for a GIN replacement category to show up, where I could buy and provide them with fodder for further losses.

Maybe helpful for the bughunt: In 1868 I still can't buy anything bigger than division units in India. While skimming the event file for GB I spotted an eventual addition of at least 1 corps-sized GIN unit to the forcepool, which did not happen in my game. Connected with the nonfunctional GIN replacement code?
